Founded as shipbuilding and cedar mining community centuries ago, Dennis Township remains largely rural and is a preferred destination for camping, hiking, bicycling, birding and other outdoor activities. Within Dennis Township is the Belleplain State Forest, consisting of thousands of wooded acres with hundreds of campsites, perfect for hiking, hunting and outdoor activities. Situated between Upper and Middle Townships, Dennis Township is centrally located to all of Cape May County, making the area's myriad of events, activities and attractions easily accessible from Dennis Township. The Great Cedar Swamp, which runs through Dennis and Upper Townships, is a popular spot for environmental activities.
